At Dhaatri, we work with Adivasi communities in India who are deeply rooted in their knowledge of protection and regeneration of their forests and local habitats. Women and youth in our communities have been working hard to restore landscapes degenerated by other development and unsustainable commercial activities in their landscapes. We share some of their stories of how they are reviving their ecological resources and livelihoods and food security with micro level initiatives.

We thank the "Dare to Trust" programme for recognising women's strengths and potential in transforming their villages to demonstrate that community initiated, owned and managed solutions are the real solutions to addressing climate crisis. These stories from Telangana and Madhya Pradesh, whether of reviving ground water or setting up kitchen gardens or restoring mining area landscapes or communities themselves taking up the unfinished 'rehabilitation' in Protected Areas carry a long history of community struggles.
