Recently, we welcomed Panna Zilla Panchayat CEO Shri Umrao Singh Maravi to Jhalarkhamariya village, to meet the community restoring their barren lands given as compensation for the Panna Tiger Reserve relocation, and to visit the Bal Angans and interact with the children.

With support from our Dare to Trust programme, the Gonds have restored their land to cultivate food crops, and also channelised water from nearby streams.

During his visit, Shri Maravi interacted with the families, who have faced significant challenges since their relocation. They shared their struggles like not receiving land titles even after 10 years of relocation, or any of the promised rehabilitation support like inadequate water, poor road access, electricity shortages, and missing essential documents.

We are pleased to share that, following the officer's visit, a document facilitation camp was held in the village to help families register for birth certificates, Aadhaar cards, and caste certificates.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Shri Maravi for listening to the concerns of the Gonds of Jhalarkhamariya. This reinstates confidence in governance systems, especially to women who are intimidated with government offices and procedures.
