Over two vibrant days at the Government Tribal Welfare Ashram High School in Padara, Telangana, children transformed a blank wall into a colourful canvas of Indigenous ecological knowledge.
With guidance from Dhaatri and Studio Mucchatlu, the girls explored their Nallamala forest landscape. Together, they painted a collaborative mural featuring wild foods, native fauna and forest life. The students also crafted natural pigments from charcoal, turmeric, mud, and forest herbs to capture their creativity on a giant canvas, bringing their community's deep connection with nature to life.
When young ones celebrate their ecological heritage through art, magic happens!
Inviting volunteers to join us: We invite students of Fine Arts to join us for the next Art Camp with the Chenchu children in tribal welfare hostels in the first week of August. We can provide travel, food and basic accommodation for a two-day camp in the Nallamala forest, along with an internship certificate from Dhaatri and Studio Mucchatlu. We have limited seats available for volunteers. For more details on the Art Camp schedule, you can contact:
